The second solo album from Bluey is entitled “Life Between The Notes”. This album contains thirteen songs and is co-produced and co-written by Richard Bull, a long standing collaborator of Bluey. Other co-producers are Ski Oakenfull, Matt Cooper and Dan Goldman.
The music on the album has a very wide range. While the track “Columbus Avenue” might encourage you to dance the salsa another one entitled “Hold On” will take you to the disco.
On the funky title track “Life Between The Notes” we learn that Bluey is a soul child. He is inspired by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones and Chaka Khan and he loves his job as a musician. In “Saints And Sinners” Bluey refers to different artists to help us in our search for peace and love on planet earth. In this lovely song the cool grooves from neo soul music that we know from the likes of D’Angelo mingle with the jazzy sound of Roy Ayers’ “Everybody Loves The Sunshine”. A sweet latin love song is “Trippin’ On This Feelin’“. Is it Phillip Bailey singing in “Tomorrow Never Lies”? Of course not but this song shows some love for the magnificent “Earth, Wind & Fire”. The song “Caught Up in The Grey” will surely be one of your favorite tracks because it is the kind of song that we all can relate to.(TA)
