Lyfe Jennings gets 3-year prison term
|Former SaveOurSoul artist of the Month singer-songwriter Chester "Lyfe" Jennings was sentenced to 3 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a high-speed police chase that ended in a crash.
The 37-year-old Jennings pleaded guilty on Wednesday to driving under the influence, fleeing and attempting to elude police, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a weapon near a street.
Jennings was arrested in Smyrna on Oct. 19, 2008. Police say Jennings had a dispute with the mother of his children, Joy Bounds, and fired shots into the house where he thought she was staying before fleeing from police.
Jennings served 10 years in prison after being convicted of arson in Ohio in 1992.
The R&B singer's most recent album, "I Still Believe," was released on August 30. On the day of Lyfe's "I Still Believe" album release, he performed for a crowd of fans and tastemakers at the Havana Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
